Cross River Female Senator, representing Northern Senatorial District of the state, Dr Mrs Rose Okoji Oko is dead. She was aged 63.
Senator Rose Okoji was born on September 27, 1956, ans was elected as the first female representative from her constituency in June 2011, into the House of Representatives, representing Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, before she won elections into the Senate.
She is a second term senator, her demise is believed to have overturned and quickened the political slug fight between Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade and several other persons who have discreetly eyed this senatorial position.
A close relative, Mr Patrick Ikorgor Okoroji speaking about he demise said, “Heart broken to hear of the passing of my dear Cousin Senator Dr Rose Okoji Oko after a long fought battle with physical affliction”
Her demise came as a shock to the state government, political friends as well as Cross Riverians and mostly people from her constituency.
