Emilia Atim is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who hails from Odukpani LGA in Cross river state. The singer attended Cross River University of Technology where she studied business administration and graduated in 2016.
In this interview with the PARROTSHUB’s blog, the singer speaks about her career, among other issues.
WHAT FIRST GOT YOU INTO MUSIC?
Music is a family phenomenon, So I would say music is in the bloodstream of my family, started as a chorister at a tender age.
WHO INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE MUSIC?
Well, I will preferably say, I got inspired to make music trying to express myself, you know there are some things I prefer to express through singing, looking at the likes of Beyoncé, Simi and the rest.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE MUSIC THAT YOU TYPICALLY CREATE?
Afro-fusion with a blend of rumba
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS LIKE?
This is the most interesting part sincerely, I could randomly chant some melody lines and rhythms with my voice recorder and send to my manager and he comes through with the perfect sound that I can build on and express myself, other times, my producer sends me a beat and boom it begins to speak to me, I’ve got this music book I’ve always had, funny enough it’s still with me till date, I just pick it up and start writing as usual.
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO COLLABORATE WITH?
A couple of talented ones, likes of Beyoncé, Tiwa savage, Suati sol, Davido, Yemi Alade, Simi, Burnaboy, Normani. I can actually keep on calling names tho ?
IF YOU COULD GO OPEN A SHOW FOR ANY ARTIST WHO WOULD IT BE?
Definitely going to be Beyoncé
WHAT IS ONE MESSAGE YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOUR FANS?
Be true to yourself, work, and pray.

That’s funny mhen, I can’t think of one now.?

Yes, of course, the bathroom has this sweet reverb ?, all the songs I know tho

A couple of places started performing in high school then to Concerts, pageantry shows, and clubs
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE AND LEAST FAVOURITE VENUES?
- [ ] Launch of ICHAD(International community for Healthy Alternatives on Drugs), I won’t say I have a least favorite venue but I’ve been invited to perform at a private Birthday party, where you will have no fan to cheer up ?
DO YOU HAVE ANY UPCOMING SHOWS?
For now because of the situation of things, the pandemic and all, there’s a pause on somethings but if any comes up after the lift of lockdown, I won’t fail to communicate it with my fans via my social media platforms
HOW DO YOU FEEL THE INTERNET HAS IMPACTED THE MUSIC BUSINESS?
It has actually been of great impact, then we do buy CDs but now we stream and download our music and it gives a very good income to us artist depending on how well you distribute and promote your songs, it has actually exposed in a positive way, talents that are hidden anywhere in the world.

Hmmm, let me say back then when I was younger when I was in a vocal training class, used the money my mummy gave me to keep, that was for my Christmas clothes, to pay for my singing lessons
